Everyone wants more engagement on Twitter. Here are a few simple ways to get started.

1. Focus on a target audience.

A thousand target followers is better than 1 million random followers. If we want to increase our engagement on Twitter we need to follow people that are related to the market we fall under not just random people to boost our number of “followers”. This will not only gain us a better network, it creates authenticity and better yet, loyal customers.

2. Engage in conversations.

Engaging in conversations with people related to what you did is proven to increase your network. For one thing, it has worked for me. If you want people to like your work, try liking theirs! If someone posts something you like, let them know about it! This creates relationships and shows that you are invested.

3. Be yourself.

You reap what you sow. If you are fake you will attract a fake following. If you are being yourself and provide useful content you will attract people who want to read it. Focus on who you are and what you are good at. By doing so you will naturally create authenticity and respect from your follows. Twitter might be the featured tool in this post but these concepts really apply to all social media outlets and blogs. What other simple ways do you feel are important to increase our engagement?
